And as it came…

…So my motivation left. Browsing around the internet, I found PvP online. I’d seen a couple strips of it a longish time ago, and realized that like Sluggy Freelance, User Friendly, and Bob The Angry Flower, it was one of those nerdish “saga” strips that I really enjoy reading from the beginning. At the time I didn’t feel like investing the effort, but I figured what the hell… two days ago. Today I finally finished reading all six years of the damned thing. It’s a good comic, though for me it was more of a nostalgia trip since I haven’t read a gaming magazine in nearly a decade and haven’t played any game in “hardcore” mode since Enter The Matrix came out, and haven’t seriously played online since I was a LPB on UT (I was ranked 92nd percentile, which I mention for my own ego’s sake). A particularly nice touch was the occasional (well, “occasional” when you read 6 years worth of strips in two days) references to the Boss & Mac Addict realizing how crumugeon they are at age 30-something. So basically, I took my political fire-up1 from earlier this week and burned it on an Internet comic strip. The horror… The Horror…

Interspersed, I’ve been keeping up with news and trying to get the recently released GNOME 2.6 back on my system — kind of important since that’s the “work” I’ve chosen to do.

  1. And epiphany on what the hell Situationism is all about — leave it to the French radicals to hide a simple, accurate, sarcastic comment on modern life under layers of dancing gorillas and puppetry. No wonder the ’68 revolution failed, all the revolutionaries were really trying to figure out how clever the other revolutionaries were :-). AFAICT, Situationism is just being silly in a radical way for the media’s sake, since the shit the media spews is so outrageously silly, when viewed from a disinterested observer’s perspective — I mean, come on, 10x the average worker’s salary in fines for an image of a breast broadcast over a radio signal… That’s pretty silly when you think about it. Hell, even Bush invading Iraq would be funny, if nobody died.
