J-20

So, I took off a couple days from work and school to drive down to D.C. for the inauguration protests. Met some cool people from New York, had some decent opportunities for self-reflection, was nearly beaten by police, and got pepper-sprayed in the face (twice). I’m writing up everything that happened for the campus paper. If it gets printed I’ll post a link, otherwise I’ll just post the text.

I’m pretty sure this photo is of me being sprayed, though I could be mistaken (they sprayed a lot of people that day). To understand how this feels, go cook a pizza in the oven at 450 degrees until the cheese melts and starts to bubble, then (with your eyes wide open), slap it onto your face and peel it off. If you did it right, you should go blind for a half hour (or four rinse-outs), and your entire face should feel like it’s just been given a 1st degree burn for about 4 hours.

Now I just need to find time for doing GNOME stuff… sigh… 🙂

  1. For what it’s worth, thanks for standing up and taking the blow. It means a lot to those of us who couldn’t be there ourselves.

  2. Wow, that pic explains everything. What a gang of bastards!

Thanks for being there, yes, for all of us who couldn’t attend…
